Have you heard of "Pole Story" and incredible book by Claire Griffin Sterrett?
In 2008 Claire completed her MA in Somatic Psychology. Her thesis focused on Pole Dancing as a therapeutic means for women to reconnect with their sensual, sexual selves. After completing her thesis, Claire continued to explore the intersection of pole, dance movement, psychology, culture and gender politics on her blog, The Pole Story. In 2011 she published her first book, The Pole Story: Essays on the Power of Erotic Dance.
This is a great fall read for us "pole intellectuals". The Book will be available next week at the SODO studio.
The Pole Story is what happens when everyday women learn to embrace and own their sexuality without shame, without fear and for themselves.
It's about how these women's psyches change alongside their bodies, and why that happens.
It's about how our culture chooses to view and react to these women.
It's an exploration into some of the most deep-seated beliefs people have about sex, the female body and one of the world's oldest traditions: erotic dance.
The Pole Story is Your Story.
