When did you start pole dancing and/or doing Lyra?
I took my first pole class with Maggie in April 2016. It was a drop in class and she taught us a back hook.
Favorite part about pole dancing?
Two things really, first the people are absolutely amazing and I look forward to learning with them every class. I feel like this is the “tribe” I’ve always been looking for. Secondly, seeing and feeling myself get stronger each week. You don’t notice it until you go back and redo something and it’s infinitely easier or when you see a photo of yourself and your arms are “jacked" hahaha.
When did you first come to Pole Fitness Seattle?
April 2016, took intro to pole and a flexibility class. Then I took Maggie’s flex class 2-4 times a month until I took an intro series in July with Ashlee. Best decision ever!
Favorite class(es) to take at the studio?
Flexibility is my favorite class, I’ve always loved all things stretching related and Maggie has different stretches than I’m used to which keeps it interesting. CS2 is a close second, learning more poses and being made to stay on the pole for 1.5 mins at the start of class has made me a more confident poler.
Favorite songs to dance to?
Anything slow and sexy.
What are your pole necessities?
Dry hands, knee pads, a short shorts!
Favorite pole move?
I don’t currently have a favorite move, I am pretty fond of figurehead as you can move into other poses from it pretty seamlessly.
Pirouetting on my knees around the pole…think flailing!
What do you enjoy outside of pole? (Yoga, reading, work, hiking, etc.)
My main activities outside of pole are running and hiking with my husky. I also love to read and do yoga when time permits.
Whether you’re a local or new in town, what is your favorite part about Seattle?
My favorite thing about Seattle is how much food there is!! So much food from so many different cultures, yummmm.
Favorite food? Favorite place to eat in Seattle? Etc.
If I had to pick a favorite place I’d say Bamboo Vietnamese on 15th, their vegan pho is amazing! My favorite foods are definitely french fries and Oreos though.
Biggest accomplishment for yourself this year at the PFS studio.
Honestly, I deal with a lot of social anxiety so for me my biggest accomplishment is going to class and talking/engaging with strangers. Most people are surprised to learn this because they think I’m outgoing but until I’m comfortable in my surroundings I’m usually faking it to make it. I learned quickly that PFS is a place where I can feel safe, comfortable, and myself. It’s really helped me want to continue to come back and be a more positive person (minus all the whining).
How have you grown as a student this past year?
I’m more comfortable with myself which I feel has really helped me zone out while flowing.
Favorite thing about the PFS studio?
How everyone is everyone’s biggest cheerleader! Everyone is completely genuine while being loving and supportive and the instructors are beyond helpful and patient making it a fun and stress free environment. I am really grateful to have an amazing place to retreat to almost everyday of the week. PFS is like Cheers but for pole dancing. Attending NW PSO with some of the PFS girls helped solidify for me how amazing the pole community is.
Thank you for sharing Tiffany! We're glad you took the Intro to Pole series too!
