This past Labor Day Weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting Michelle Stanek at Pole Fitness Seattle for three amazing workshops: Contemporary Modern Fusion, Work the Floor, and Performance Tips & Dynamics. She is an "internationally renowned pole dancer known for her signature 'sexy contemporary' style that blends sensual movement with grace, extension and control of her classical background." She has an impressive background in pole winning 5 out of 6 competitions including the 2012 United States Pole Dance Champion title. We were able to catch up with her after the workshops to ask her a few questions. Check out the interview below!
PFS: What is your current favorite song(s) to dance to?
MS: Currently bringing it back old school to "I'd Die Without You," by PM Dawn. Cannot get enough of that song!
PFS: Any current favorite pole moves you love doing or are constantly practicing?
MS: I always love working on drops that use my legs to flair and end with my body wrapping around the pole. I feel like they are versatile—they can be dynamic or slow combos and lots of fun!
PFS: What's your favorite thing to eat right now?
MS: I'm really into smoothies and juices.I struggle to get my daily source of veggies so putting them into a delicious shake is genius!
(We love smoothies too!)
PFS: Favorite thing about Seattle/PNW?
MS: The LUSHness of the trees and air! It was so fresh. Also, Treehouse Point! I have been wanting to stay there for years and finally got to. It is a dream!
(we're definitely jealous of this one)
PFS: What were the best part of your workshops this weekend with PFS?
MS: The students! Everyone was so kind and fun and, most importantly, eager to learn. Especially in my last workshop, "Performance Tips and Dynamics," they really had to step outside the proverbial pole box to open up to new ways of moving and connect with themselves as well as everyone else. They rocked. And it made me feel all the feels inside!
Thanks again Michelle for your amazing workshops! We know our students had lots of fun and learned a ton from you. We hope you guys enjoyed this post! Be sure to subscribe to our blog to see more posts like this in the future =)
